Great Teachers Know DISC
This seminar is designed to help educator have another lens to look through to him/her develop strategies that will discover the motivations of their students and trade on those motivations toward success in the class room.
"Teachers already understand the fact that their students are going to be different. This, however, is only one step in being a good teacher. A good teacher knows specifically how students are individually different and what motivates them. You have heard the old saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink."That is true; however, there is another part of that saying that is equally true,"But, you can salt his oats and make him thirsty." It is our job as teachers (and parents) to learn how to better "salt their oats." Research seems to indicate that students learn a great deal by their personalities and related learning styles. The teacher must carefully take into consideration exactly what can be done to work with those differences, rather than working against them. Unless the teacher is aware of all of these factors, he will fall into the trap of trying to teach every student the same way and expect the same results. Ironically, we, as teachers, are the first ones to recognize that all of our students do not have the same needs, desires, strengths or weaknesses. Yet, we continue to try to teach them all the same way Why? Probably because the way we teach is the way that seems or feels best to us. Our teaching methodology is often the way that seemed to work best in helping us to learn in our own educational experience. The information contained in this book will hopefully enlighten teachers and parents to do a better job in connecting to their students and children in a new and more successful way.
